Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Condesa Nights

We landed in Mexico City and headed straight to ULIV Condesa, our home for the week. Condesa is one of the city’s most walkable and charming neighborhoods, filled with leafy parks, cafes, and art deco architecture. After settling in, we strolled through the tree-lined streets, getting a feel for the vibe and admiring colorful murals.

For dinner, we chose Caracol de Mar, known for its fresh seafood and beautiful plating — the perfect first meal. Later, we kicked off our trip with a night out at Gin Gin, a trendy cocktail bar with creative gin-based drinks and a lively atmosphere.

Day 2: Coffee, Mezcal & Contramar

Morning coffee (and matcha!) at BUNA Condesa set the tone for the day — a cozy cafe with excellent pastries and a neighborhood feel. By chance, we stumbled upon a sign for a Mezcal Festival happening nearby and decided to check it out. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip: we sampled small-batch mezcals and other agave-based spirits, chatted with local producers, and learned about the craft behind each bottle.

Dinner was at the legendary Contramar, famous for its tuna tostadas and pescado a la talla (grilled fish with red and green sauces). It lived up to the hype — bright, fresh flavors in a vibrant setting.

Day 3: Brunch & Frida Kahlo Museum

We started the day with brunch at Café Nin, a cozy spot with some of the best pastries in the city (the guava roll is a must). The rest of the morning was spent wandering the city, exploring boutiques, markets, and leafy plazas.

In the afternoon, we headed to the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum (also known as Casa Azul). Walking through her home — filled with her art, personal belongings, and vivid colors — felt intimate and inspiring.

Day 4: Grutas Tolantongo Day Trip

This was our adventure day — and worth every minute of the 4 a.m. wake-up. We booked a day trip to Grutas Tolantongo, a natural wonder with turquoise hot springs cascading down a mountainside, caves, and river pools. It’s about a 3–4 hour drive each way, but the scenery and experience are unforgettable. Bring water shoes, a waterproof phone case, and a towel — and prepare to be amazed.

Day 5: Teotihuacan Pyramids & Churros

We spent our last full day exploring Teotihuacan, home to the awe-inspiring Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. Our guided tour also included stops at Basilica of Guadalupe and Tlatelolco, offering a fascinating look at Mexico’s layered history.

Back in the city, we finally made it to Churrería El Moro, an institution famous for its churros and hot chocolate. Pro tip: order both the classic cinnamon-sugar churros and the filled ones — you’ll regret not going every night!

Day 6: Farewell Coffee & Departure

On our final morning, we grabbed coffee and pastries at Odetta Condesa — the perfect low-key farewell before heading to the airport. One last stroll through Condesa’s leafy streets, and our girls’ trip came to a sweet close.

Where We Stayed: ULIV Condesa

We stayed at ULIV Condesa, a boutique apartment-style accommodation right in the heart of Condesa. The location was perfect — walkable to countless cafes, parks, and restaurants, with easy access to ride-shares for day trips. The apartments were modern, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it feel like a home base rather than just a hotel room.

We loved starting and ending each day surrounded by Condesa’s leafy streets and vibrant energy — highly recommend this area for first-time visitors.
